3D Interactive Poster

Creative Process

Earlier in the project, I experimented with a 3D Modelling program called Spline. My experience was fairly positive and I decided why not use it to create an interactive poster. As mentioned in a previous post, I did 6 designs for the motion graphic social media post. And while not all designs were used, I did choose to repurpose one of them for this prototype instead as it works just as well. The aim I had with this prototype was to go for something that would appeal to the younger demographic of Devon’s target audience. As a result I chose the design that characterised a biscuit.

Development.

To start, I created the biscuit character. Initially my original plans were to have the biscuit morph into the chocolate biscuit product that Devon produces. However, due to lack of proficiency I was not able to achieve this. As a result, I kept the default biscuit.

After that, I added my newly design logo and I decided to add in two wheat symbols as a way to pull together both the biscuit and the logo into a nice circular composition.

Now, in the original sketch the logo was meant to be at the top because at the bottom there would be a button that viewers were supposed to click to switch to the chocolate biscuit. But, since I had to change plans, I decided to add the logo at the bottom and include the same hashtag used in the motion graphic post.

The final visual detail I added with confetti like element around the biscuit to add more depth to the piece. This can be viewed further when you move around the environment.

Lastly, I added animations to each element similarly to what I learnt when I was experimenting with the program. Except this time I toggled those animations to begin every time you press the enter button on your keyboard. I also added an extra animation so that when the mouse hovers on the biscuit, it expands.

Although I did complete this prototype, I'm disappointed that I was not able to achieve my original plans.
