Logo Animation
Creation Process
When thinking of what style of logo animation to do for my final logo design, I decided to go with something simple that would put focus on the overall design itself. My main source of inspiration was to stay in conjunction with the animation of ABIL’s Logo on their website.
However, I still searched through the internet just in case something else peaked my interest. In the end, I found an animation design that perfectly embodied the style that I was going for; The Netflix logo animation from 2013.
Once I knew for sure what I was going for, I decided to go with Adobe After Effects to do the final Prototype. My main issue that I experienced with this was simply my lack of experience using this program. As a result, I had to take the time to follow courses and tutorials on YouTube to learn both how to use the program and how to achieve what I had in mind.
Development
The first step to make the animation was to use the png version of the logo, and create a 3D outline using the Vegas effect preset. This will then have a linear motion animation.
Afterwards, using a duplicate of that layer I used a preset called ‘CC Radial Fast Blur’ and made a dark shadow version of the 3D Outline. This was then repeated again, but this time creating a light shadow.
Next, I added a light into the project to add extra detail to the shadows.
Finally, I added the logo png to fade in at the final part of the animation alongside text that shows the link to the ABIL website. At first I was going to leave it as is, however, after looking at the final play through, I felt like the png stood out too much. To fix this I added a gradient effect to the image, with a low opacity, so the png will fit in with the rest of the animation seamlessly.
